Navigating the Product: What is the Re-Run Verification Feature?

Why should I use the Re-run Verification Feature?

The Re-Run Verification Feature gives you the power to run a new request with new information from the applicant. You should first ensure that you’ve cleared using the Re-Run Verification feature with an administrator from your organization because running new requests can result in billable events.

When is this Re-Run Verification feature useful?

When a request is in a “Complete” or “Timed Out,” status you may want to re-run some or all of the services it contained. For example, let’s say an applicant applied to your platform, but accidentally uploaded an image for their Selfie Check that had a custom filter over the photo. The custom filter could cause the Selfie verification to come back as “Low” or “None.”

The Re-Run Verification Feature gives you the power to run a new request that requires new inputs from the user with the goal of getting an updated result.

Why can’t I just create a new request? When a user is sent more than one request, a benefit of the Evident Platform is something called "Value Resolution." This is a technical term for the idea that we don't want the user to feel inconvenienced by having to upload the same document more than once. Therefore, we have technology in our system that checks for any information that was submitted at an earlier date. In this case, any new request you create for the same user (using the same email address) would find the information submitted earlier and simply return to you the same results. The Re-Run Verification feature creates a special kind of request that ignores all the previously submitted information.

Will the user have to upload new information? The Re-Run Verification feature creates a special kind of request that ignores all the previously submitted information. This means your user will have to upload any new pieces of information required to complete the new request, including documents or images. The primary mechanism of the re-run verification is to force new uploads from the user.

I’m ready to use the Re-Run Verification Feature. What now?

First, go to the Dashboard and select a request, which will take you to the request details page. When you click the “Re-run verification” button, a pop-up window will appear. This pop-up will allow you to pick which services that you want to run.

By default, all of the verifications on the first request will be included in the second request created by the Re-run Verification feature.

In other words, if the original verification asked for an Identity Document Verification and a Standard Background Check, then the Evident platform will default to Re-running both the Identity Document Verification and the Standard Background Check. The user will be expected to provide all new inputs, and the new verification will yield all new results.

In most cases, this is the preferable. In the scenario listed above, the applicant will need to upload an identity document for Evident to verify. This will establish a valid identity on which a new background check can be run.

With the “Override all attributes?” toggle switch in the “Yes” position, click the “Re-run” button to create the new request.

In other cases, it may be preferred to maintain some existing verification results, while creating a new request for only select verifications. For example, a background check that was valid a year ago may have become out of date for your platform, and you may want to rerun the background check without collecting the same information a second time from your user.

In this scenario, a valid identity has already been established, and re-verifying the identity alongside the criminal history background check isn't necessary. Switching the “Override all attributes?” toggle switch to the “No” position provides you with granular control over which verifications will be run again.

Now, the identity verification and its associated outputs can be unselected and clicking the “Re-run” button will create the new request.

To complete the new request, the applicant will need to re-enter only the inputs related to the criminal history background check. The applicant will not have to upload an identity document or provide any information, and the results of the previous identity verification persist.

Note: If the original request was created using a template, all of the original template settings will apply to the new request, including any settings related to email notifications. For example, if the original verification was created with a template that had email notifications turned on, then as soon as the new request is created the applicant will be sent the initial email and entered subsequently entered into the standard reminder cadence.

Additionally, the new request will have a new URL for the applicant to complete in the Evident Submit UI. The link to the new request will automatically populate in the Request Link panel in the Request Details page.
