
Once you provide the initial submissions, Evident will start working on your background check right away. In some cases, one or more additional submissions may be required. If you receive a notification that an additional submission is required, be sure to fill it out thoroughly and right away. As a general rule of thumb you should:
- Start working on getting the submission right away
- Take your time getting a good photo or filling out information - a single higher quality submission will always process more quickly than a low quality submission that has to be repeated multiple times
- Submit right away once you have a good photo/thorough submission
What kinds of followup submissions might be requested?
Once we have received all of the required initial submissions, we will start processing your verifications. There is a specific order in which the verifications are processed, and this order impacts the order in which you might be requested to provide followup submissions.
- Identity Document Submission: First, Evident will attempt to complete the identity document verification. This is a required step before the background check can begin. Because of this, if you receive a request for an identity document submission, you will need to respond right away. If you receive a notification that you need to resubmit your identity document, and you haven't read this article on submitting your identity document as well as this article on the best practices to use when submitting your identity document, then read those before you submit. Usually it's better to take your time getting good high quality image that is able to be processed automatically than to submit a bad picture and receive outreach from Evident saying that we need you to submit again. While normally this process takes less than five minutes, it can be a good idea to allot about 15 minutes for this kind of followup submission.
- Business Address Submissions: In case your business address is not received for whatever reason, we may ask for you to submit this information again. The business verification must receive a full submission before we can begin the check and a valid business address is one part of the required submission.
- Social Security Number or Authorization and Disclosure: Once we get a good document verification, we will try to proceed with your background checks. If we do not have your full authorization and disclosure or if we need to collect this information again, we will reach out to you notifying you of this information. Likewise, if you submitted a social security number that is known to be invalid, we will reach out to collect another social security number from you.
- Background Check Related Followup Submissions: Once we've started processing your background check, you or a member of your team may receive up to two requests from Evident for followup submissions. These secondary or tertiary submissions are required and must be filled out thoroughly and you are required to provide full, complete, and accurate information.
While you should fill out these submissions right away, you should also be aware that each followup submission has a 14 day window that closes. Once the 14-day window closes you cannot go back and provide the submission after-the-fact. If you don't fill out these submissions, your eligibility for Local Services Ads could be affected since you must complete the all the required submissions and you must do so in 90 days. Not providing a submission or not being thorough in your submission will always take longer to process than if you provide a high quality and thorough submission.
What if the 90 Day Window closes and I didn't submit?
If you aren't able to accomplish all the steps in the timeline within 90 days, and as a result your background check is unable to finish processing before the 90 day window closes, you will have to reach out to Google Support to request a restart your background check application, which means you will have to begin the process again.
