When creating a request, through the Evident Dashboard or through VerifyAPI, a summary and description are two of the five components that can be provided. These components are used to instruct the data subject what needs to be accomplished in their verification.
From the data subjects perspective, the summary will be used as the subject line of the email they receive from Evident. It's important to note that the summary will always be appended to the string "Action Required to Complete Your {Your Summary Here}". Best practices for the summary is to be a brief high level overview of the verification the data subject is going through.
The description will be used as the body of the email the data subject receives from Evident. Best practices typically recommends that the description includes information about what this verification is for, the criteria the data subject needs to meet for a successful verification, the information/documents the data subject will need to complete the verification, and finally the best way to contact support if the data subject has any questions or runs into any issues.
Both the summary and description are optional inputs for a request, however if you do not provide these values then the Evident platform will fall back to default values.
In scenarios where a summary is provided, but a description is not, then the value of the summary will appear as expected, but the description will default to "To verify eligibility for rp requirements".

In scenarios where a description is provided, but a summary is not, the summary will duplicate the value of the description provided.

Finally, in scenarios where neither the description or summary are provided, both values will default to "To verify eligibility for rp requirements".
